This project aims to investigate the patient work conducted by patients with Type 2 diabetes and other comorbidities living in the community.
Patient work is a concept that assesses the health-related work involved in self-management, as well as the contextual factors affecting such work. The research assesses the burden of illness and burden of care as they were conducted, not as they were imagined. The results provide groundwork for other projects in the CRE to discover opportunities for digital intervention in patient work. The project is being undertaken at Macquarie University (Sydney) and is partnered with Health Direct, Ryde Hospital (Sydney), and Northern Sydney District Health Board.
